Meet the team

The Ashipti Project is run entirely by volunteers, most of whom have spent time in Ghana learning about the needs of the local people.  The charity was established in the UK in 2006 but has recently become an international organisation, with branches in the USA and Denmark.

Sandra in Tamale 2006

 

Dr Sandra Easdale is one of the origininal Ashipti Project trustees and helped to set up the charity in 2006.  In 2007 she returned to Tamale Hospital on behalf of the charity to deliver donated equipment and assess the future needs of the hospital.   Sandra is currently working as a doctor in London, UK.

Dr Hannah Brotherstone helped to set up The Ashipti Project in 2006 after volunteering at Tamale Hospital.  She has since returned to the hospital in 2007 and 2009 to build links with other hospitals and health centres in the northern region.  Hannah is currently working as a doctor in Exeter, UK.

Dr Anna Thomas joined the Ashipti project in 2007 and visited Tamale hospital in the same year.  She has since helped to raise thousands of pounds for the project and is hoping to return to Ghana in the future to work in the Northern Region.  Anna is currently working as a doctor in Exeter, UK.

 Alice Travers in Ghana 2009

 

Alice Travers joined The Ashipti Project in 2009.  In July of the same year she visited Ghana to learn more about the needs of those working in the Northern Region.  Alice is currently training to be a nurse in London and using her spare time to contribute to the project.  In 2010 Alice completed the Paris marathon on behalf of the project, raising well over £2000!

Sandra Bohn joined The Ashipti Project in 2009. She originally volunteered with Unite ofor Sight in Tamale and became interested in Ashipti during her visit.  Sandra has since developed a branch of The Ashipti Project in her home country of Denmark.  Sandra is curently studying medicine at Aarhus University.

Maria Goldshmitt, Ashipti Denmark

 

Maria Goldschmidt joined The Ashipti Project in 2010. She visited Walewale in 2011 to learn about the hospital and to make links with medical students in Ghana.  She is now working with Ashipti Denmark to develop partnerships with Ghanaian medical students.  Maria is currently a medical student at Aarhus University, Denmark.

 

Stine Scott Hansen, Ashipti Denmark

   

Stine Scott Hansen also joined The Ashipti Project in 2010 and travelled to Walewale with Maria in 2011.  Stine is now working to develop health promotion projects in conjunction with Ghanaian medical students.  She is also working to encourage other medical students to visit Walewale.  Stine is currently a medical student at Aarhus University, Denmark.

 

Saga Elise Mariansdatter, Ashipti Denmark

   

Saga Elise Mariansdatter joined The Ashipti Project in 2010 and has since been working to raise money for the charity and encourage students to visit Ghana.  She is now working on potential health promotion projects with Ashipti Denmark. Stine is currently a medical student at Aarhus University, Denmark.

 Nicholas Greene, Ashipti USA    

Nicholas Greene joined The Ashipti Project in 2009 and has since been working to establish The Ashipti Project as a US non-profit.  Thanks to his hard work, The Ashipti Project is now officially a recognised American organisation with 501c3 status.  Nick currently works in San Francisco, USA.
